A weekly Toastmasters Meeting is a forum for members to improve their communication and leadership skills.

By holding Executive Committee Meetings outside the club meeting, the president calls together the officers who consider the educational activities of the club.

They discuss the status of the members and how the club can help the members achieve their personal goals while the club pursues its Distinguished Club Program membership requirement and goals.

Compare it to a huddle in a football game. In the huddle, the plan of action is revealed after the decision-makers consider the options. The team members have assigned tasks. They know and understand their roles. The team pulls together to create the winning result.

You may think, "but in a football game, one team loses." Yes, that is the nature of the game.

In Toastmasters Clubs, the emphasis is on everyone's success.

It is possible for ALL clubs to be distinguished clubs. Some Districts had as high as 75% of their clubs Distinguished for 2004-2005.

The Executive Committee brainstorms to determine how it will be possible for the club to be distinguished.

Presidents, please call your Executive committee together to review membership requirements and goals for a distinguished club at least four times during the term. With the help of the Executive Committee, complete your Club Success Plan--in writing. As the term progresses, call the committee together again to review progress. Make necessary revisions.

You are the quarterback.

Lead your team to Distinguished Club success.
